Since the chapter's chartering in 1997, the members of Upsilon Tau Omega have actively worked in the surrounding communities to implement programs to enrich the lives of residents in Southern Prince George's County, MD. On December 7, 1997, 39 sorority members chartered the chapter making it the 122nd chapter in the "Notable North Atlantic Region." Its membership has grown from 39 to more than 160 members making it a large-sized chapter. The chapter has grown but the mission has remained unchanged - Service to All Mankind.
The motivation and stirring force in the chartering of Iota Gamma Omega Chapter was North Atlantic Regional Director, Ester Pollard. Pollard revealed to the pioneering ladies her personal dream of expanding the sorority by organizing chapters in each county circling the Capital Beltway of Metropolitan Washington, DC. With the strong and compassionate leadership and the constant encouragement of Regional Director Pollard, "the founding five" met with Regional Director Pollard to discuss the possibility of establishing a chapter in Prince George's County, Maryland, on October 24, 1969. The Iota Gamma Omega Chapter was chartered on November 14, 1970.
On April 29, 2007, the Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter was chartered as the 69th Graduate Chapter in the North Atlantic Region. The chapter was founded by twenty-seven professionally diverse members who were committed to a common goal of chartering a chapter to service the cities of Laurel, Bowie and Greenbelt, Maryland. Since 2007 the chapter has been aggressively implementing its programs of service which include: the Heart Cafe, Stuff-A-Backpack School Supplies Drive, the Community Health Fair and many more.
